As we finish out the sixth month facing COVID in South Carolina, I remain hopeful that we are on the cusp of containing the virus and dropping our case count. As friends of the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), you have direct access to the most up to date COVID information from our experts. On the MUSC coronavirus updates site, you’ll find messages from MUSC President David J. Cole, M.D., FACS, and other members of leadership, a list of frequently asked questions, testing locations and more.

It’s been inspiring to see the MUSC family come together during this global pandemic to keep our world running. Our front-line workers give back every day to our community by caring for the patients in our hospitals as if they are their own family. For those of us not on the front lines, but still a part of the MUSC community, we’ve continued to see several ways in which people have chosen to give back, if not of their time, through their gifts. I’ll use my friend and colleague, Sunday Tuk, as an example. Sunday chose to leave a gift to MUSC from her retirement account. Not only has she chosen to give back to MUSC, but has instilled the art of giving in her daughter, Peyton. I’m excited for you to read her story in this newsletter.

Whether they are walking the halls of the hospital or committing to an estate gift to benefit our patients for years to come, these are the kind of individuals who make up MUSC. These are the people who choose to go toward the disaster and say, “How can I help?” We are proud to call them family.

Best,
Natalie
