This summer brought many new and exciting changes to MUSC. First, we welcomed Stuart Ames to the MUSC Foundation. He is taking over as CEO from our beloved Tom Anderson, who recently retired. Stuart comes to us from Connecticut with a strong background in investing and a heart for philanthropy, making him the perfect choice to continue the momentum Tom has built over the past 18 years.
On Aug. 9, nearly a thousand people gathered on-site for the dedication of the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital and Pearl Tourville Women’s Pavilion. The planned giving team watched a live stream of the dedication from the Sebring-Aimar House, one of many watch parties across campus. It was nice to celebrate together as this hospital will impact each of us in ways we can’t even begin to predict. The support for this project has been tremendous. From donors who gave money, patients and their families who gave insight into the hospital’s design, leadership who worked tirelessly to push the project forward, thousands of construction workers who worked day in and day out, and countless others – we thank you!
As I type, our health care team is working hard to transition from the old building to the new hospital before the doors open this fall. All of this to say, MUSC is experiencing lots of exciting change as the season begins to change with it! Thank you for your support through it all.
Happy fall,
Haley
