Happy holidays!
December 2020
I’ve heard several friends say how grateful they are to get through the holidays so that we can finally welcome a new year! After all, 2020 has been very difficult for many, many people. While I plan to join the masses in saying “cheers” to 2021 on New Year’s Eve, I am also reminded to stop and appreciate all the good that 2020 has brought to light.
Here are a few things that I have really loved about 2020:
- Time spent at home with my family.
- Watching our community come together to support small businesses.
- People walking their dogs in the neighborhood during their lunch breaks (and actually taking lunch breaks!).
- Wearing sweatpants and comfortable clothes, which have been accepted as proper work-from-home attire.
- And of course, our health care community going above and beyond to care for the people of South Carolina.
Yes, there's been quite a lot of sadness, loss and uncertainty these last few months. But as we prepare to celebrate the holidays, I ask you to recall some of the wonderful things you've witnessed this year. Our team is grateful to witness your continued generosity. After all, this is the season of giving and what an incredible gift you have given to MUSC by leaving a legacy!
This holiday season, may you remember the many wonderful highlights from this year, think of those less fortunate, and take a moment to reflect on your blessings. One of these days, we will look back and say "Remember 2020? I am so glad we made it through."
Wishing you and your family a happy holiday!
