| A Gift That Keeps Giving... |
For William Momier, the decision to establish a fund at the Hollings Cancer Center in memory of his parents was an easy decision. By establishing a charitable gift annuity, Mr. Momier will receive an income for the rest of his life. He also has the satisfaction of knowing that his gift will ultimately go to fight a disease which has afflicted so many of his family members and friends. "I hope they can find a cure for cancer and eradicate it," says Momier as he remembers a close friend with whom he worked at the Charleston Naval Shipyard whose child had cancer. "Both of my parents also suffered from cancer and I go to the dermatologist regularly to have cancer spots removed from my face." Mr. Momier's gift will provide hope to so many patients and their families who come to the Hollings Cancer Center and will serve as a lasting tribute to his parents through the creation of the Margaret Stokes and Joseph Craft Momier Director's Suite.
"That's why I did it, mainly, to give people with cancer a chance," he says. "We've come a long way, but we've still got a long way to go."
